Let's skirt big drift teleport trough a rift let's get it
Thank you Simon, for this game analysis and your series on your British Championship games 2019. At the time, I could not believe that you had lost this game in your favourite French defence! Now I understand a little more, so thanks for sharing! I play the French and still play the Winawer rather than this Classical variation (& I have your full DVD set!). In hindsight, it looks to me, like you lost the game due to the small mistakes you made and highlighted and White played sensibly & solidly and well throughout. Lots to learn and as ever, losing is learning at all levels of chess play..onwards and upwards and also well played Adam Ashton!
Haven't watched yet but good job, sir!
Uff another analysis.. I want some real time chess, it’s been a while now 🙁
analysis are ur best videos!
Great stuff gingerballs
Mr. Williams!! Hope you're doing well my good man. Hello from Houston TX. My name is Joe. Wanted to say thank you so much for all your videos. I simply cant Adam an eve it. Absolutely wonderful stuff sir. I quite enjoy all your content. Been watching for a couple years now. I simply admire all your styles, your comments, your analysis. Look forward to buying some Dee vee dees 😀 take care my friend and God bless.
Very instructive – thank you.
Time for you, Simon, to study the games of Petrosian and leave Tal’s games aside for a while 🙂
– Simon lost.
– Nah, the other guy must be hacking.
Jokes aside, a good game both sides! Also, the video got quite laggy at the end, like at 17:53 and onwards, so you might wanna look into what went wrong. I initially thought it was my phone.
I 'm so impressed by you ! You 're my favorite GM on Youtube ! Definitevely ! It 's incredible to find a competitive GM chess player who dares to analyse his mistakes and show them on the Web ! Thank you soooo much for your work … By the way, i went to Ireland at the end of July and got rest at Kilkenny : i didn't find any g4 pawn in the street of the city so, Kilkenny gambit seems to be a suspicious name … (:
Great video. I love when you analyse your own games
Your pic LOL 🙂
The wildest match was against your friend Jovanka Houska: the missed opportunities!
Also: post some speed chess!
Thanks for posting, I picked up the French Defense all because of your videos so this game is very instructive. Hopefully round 3 goes better for you and we can all celebrate another win sooner rather than later.
Very instructive video, thank you!
Anyone got a link to that French Defence website mentioned? Can't find it.
Simon, why you even didn't mention in your book on the Dutch defense about Hopton's attack? ))
Psychology plays a very important role in over the board chess. Because of heightened level of stress we tend to overreact to opponent’s threats by making weakening moves and underestimate our own positional strength.
I feel painfull when you lose, as well as Rafael Nadal, please don't lose anymore. I play French too but it's really complicated, I don't like sicilian
I've done that double pawn break when it wasn't called for plenty of times. Looks like you thoroughly examined that game, so it was a good loss.
I'd bet that Ashton watched your dvds and videos in preparation.
Nice game simon good luck in you future games..
Moral of the story: never play f6
Pics are switched…
Thanks for sharing
I love it, when GM 's not only show the great victory s. My respect, i think ist is not so easy to analyse such games in a YouTube Video but you make a great Job.
A typical bad French bishop game.
vishawan Anand returns… jokes aside thanks for the insight into the classical french, much help to supplement my current learning of the opening
I hate the French so much and i've played on the white side so many times, the FM misplayed the opening otherwise i do believe black should be in a tight squeeze.
great video! is it me or are your videos a bit lagging soundwise lately?
Real brave and honest self-analysis. 2 out of 9… And I will be watching them all now.
Well played opponent.
Good for you, analysing your lost game, Simon. Adam Ashton was in mind reading mode. What you really should have done after Qf2 was throw a wobbly and storm off.
As a French player myself I keep trying this f6 pawn break but it just never works. I always end up with a weak e6 pawn. Also the white squared bishop must be exchanged at any cost. Early Ba6 lines or Bd7 and then let it go…
