  1. don't let perfect be the enemy of good

  2. I'm with you except the "love chess" part, actually you gotta hate chess so much that you desperately need to beat it & finally be free of it

that was why Ding Liren was so depressed after becoming WC. He realized that even that wasn't enough to break free from chess'' evil spell and that he would actually have to KEEP PLAYING

  3. Thank you for your words. I urgently needed that. I've finally been playing chess every day again for months, but I'm practicing more tactics and playing a game of correspondence chess every now and then. Apart from that, I often look for tips on how to get better.

However, I should dare to play rapid chess games against real players more often. More practical practice and more experience.

  4. It's unbelievable how much nonsense this guy talks! Would have expected something of substance from a GM!

  5. Literally clicked on video to get some kind of knowledge or education on chess and wasters 4 mins and 12 seconds of my life listen to this guy repeat him self 🤦‍♂️. So happy I saved my self the other 1 min and 1 sec, wait took me about that long to type this up fml i give.

  6. It's true, just like the phrase “The master has failed more times than the beginner has even tried.”

The pros make it look easy at the highest level because the game becomes like a second nature eventually

  7. How do I get better at chess? Just get better stop caring what other people think. That's like a kid asking their teacher "how do I get better at math" and the teacher telling them to not ask for their opinion and to just get better

  8. "If you want to get good at stuff, you get good at it."
    Oh well ok then.

  9. I actually don’t want to get better at chess.

  10. I have inaccurate moves, but I don’t have this concept… seems like a hurdle to learn about… however there isn’t much on this topic.

  11. Hey man it’s okay that you think that, God loves you and still has his arms open to you if you would turn from your ways and have all your sins forgiven by believing in Jesus Christ and what he’s done for us! God Bless

  12. With only 1 life, people in general want to impress others, looking for a shortcut to wealth, perceived happiness or how badass they can be. Trying to optimize your learning path by evaluating your options is actually quite smart relative to pursuing the first path forward. Finding something of value to pursue is a high order question. Do you think younger Ben would have been any different if he would have 10x the resources available to him back then?

  13. Wtf is this!!!!!????
You got issues man!!! Sort it out bro

  14. I'm not sure if this is a really good advise or a really bad advise.

  15. This advice seems to me like the definition of someone giving “tough love”. Thanks for the wise words👍❤

  16. it is more like don't make stupid mistakes

  17. This is the best general advise I've ever heard on YouTube

  18. Baffling amount of negative comments. By my estimation "spend every waking hour you have available passionately devoted to the game to improve" isn't bad advice…

  19. "Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." – John 14:6

  20. A atheist does not need a book to know if something is good or bad. 🙂

  21. I practice every day and i'm now on my way to 1600….trouble is i'm currently at 1800

  22. Its not necessarily true that just doing it will make you better. If you keep doing it wrong you'll never get better. Musicians will know this especially that it doesn't matter how long you practice if you suck at practicing. So yes asking people does help you get better because those people can point you in the right direction and help you learn how to practice more effectively.

  23. 1:33 this is a sort of braindead take on why people are asking this. I am asking "how do I improve" because I HAVE just been playing and thinking about chess and NOT improving. I HAVE been practicing and not improving. And so I start asking "what am I doing wrong? How do I get better?"

  24. How do i get better?

    Ben: just get better duh

  25. Walk more and drink less of your calories ( beer, juice, soda, Starbucks)

  26. Useless and not helpful. Misleading title and waste of 5 minutes. We look to people who are better than us at something like chess to provide some guidance as to what specific things to do to improve. You failed to provide the guidance implied in your title. If you want to help then list a few specific things we learners can do to improve. Your incoherent ramble is not helpful. Telling us what not to do or what not to ask is fine. That could have taken at most 30 seconds. Instead you provided silly examples having nothing to do with chess. You could have then listed tasks necessary for a computer player who sincerely wants to improve but is unsure which tasks to focus on. This disappointing and a waste of my time. Perhaps you could try again and provide a general roadmap or even some ideas for those of us who are “doing chess “ but not feeling that we are progressing. I think you are too angry and narcissistic to create such a video but perhaps you could prove me wrong.

  27. You have to put in your 10000 hours and spend that time actually playing and thinking about why you lost and how you can improve in your next game.

  28. I literally searched "how to improve in chess", this is one of the first videos that came up and you spent 5 minutes lecturing me on if I want to improve my chess game I'll need to do research and not think about getting good… But i'm literally doing that now?

  29. looked at the thumbnail, thought you looked very jewish then i looked at your name and it was 100% confirmed, just to double check i searched up your surname and yh its jewish. idk why ashkenazi jewish peoples just have a distinct look

  30. You know what, that is some of the realest shit I've ever heard on chess and as a YouTuber generally
